Beim Boot eines Extreme- Networks Summit Switches gilt folgende Reihenfolge:
1. Bootstrap
2. BootROM
3. ExOS Image

Alle Images werden doppelt auf dem Switch vorgehalten, d.h. in einer primary und einer secondary Variante, die wahlfrei gestartet und auch upgedatet werden können.

Achtung!!!
Durch Fehlbedienungen kann der Switch dauerhaft unbrauchbar gemacht werden! Im Zweilfelsfall lieber mal den freundlichen Dienstleister fragen!!!

Sowohl in den Bootstrap als auch in das BootRom gelangt man durch das Drücken und Halten der Space-Taste sobald die entsprechenden Meldungen angezeigt werden. Hierzu muss der Switch über ein serielles Kabel mit einem Rechner verbunden sein auf dem ein geeignetes Programm z.B. HyperTerminal gestartet ist. Die Verbindungseinstellungen müssen auf 9600,8,N,1 gesetzt sein.
