EMC DS-300

The fibrechannel switch EMC DS-300 is a product from Brocade and distributed under different labels. Brocade just calls it "Brocade 300", IBM, just like EMC, DS-300. The DS-300 is a 1 HE 8 Gbit fibrechannel switch with a maximum of 24 ports and a total bandwith of 192 GBit/s.
One of the methods, I suspect even the most used, to update the firmware or change zoning is using the webfrontend. Because this frontend is based on Java updating the JRE on the client may break it. This is the main reason why the majority of this articles focus on using the console doing this any similar jobs.

Replacing the target system for a configuration backup and keeping the IP address leads to a problem that the connection gets dropped. Here is how to fix it.
